Hero: Movie Review
Jet Li and Ziyi Zhang star in this martial arts story of a mane with no name hoping to bring peace to his county of China. I don't know if this movie is based in fact but the resulting ideas form it were amazing. The story is told almost entirely of flash backs and misleading dream sequences. At first I thought it was some weird kung fu art piece but as the movie went on the true story lines played out and it was brilliant. I really didn't expect all the twists and martial art and imagery was very beautiful. The film was like Hidden Dragon mixed with a dash of Kill Bill. And it is short so if you get bored it goes by rather quickly. I highly recommend this one for the creative plot and underlying message.

Good vs Evil for the Ultimate Good
The film Hero brings up an issue that is often discussed. What is good and who decides what is good. Is good saving just one life from the perils of drugs by killing drug smugglers? Or is it killing a insane dictator to save an entire nation? What is the greater good? Can you claim to be good if you are killing in the name of religion? Shouldn't religious people be passive and make change through faith? Sometimes is letting evil live on the greatest act of good, rather then doing evil in the name of good intentions? It is a very difficult idea and I could see why many American's did not grasp this movie. It written from the perspective of Chinese history and philosophies and we just don't turn our check or go on holy crusades. We can't die for others and maybe that is how we perceive death. As the ultimate end and not the beginning of a new life. In countries that still believe in reincarnation you can actually better your next life by the deeds you do in your first. So sacrifice comes easily and spirituality is more of a natural flow rather then a beginning and an end. The Ultimate good then becomes how can I die with honor and better others now and myself later. If we all lived this unselfishly would never have to help ourselves in this life as other would be willing to do it for us.
